In Venezuela: at the following localities according to Triebel (1961) and Broodbakker (1984a, b): SUCRE State —WH 1936/4, WH 1936/5, stagnant, dry for several months, dug and dammed pond, Estanque de Manglillo, Chacopata, Araya Peninsula (GN 10º40’37” N, 63º49’05” W). NUEVA ESPARTA State —WH 1936/10, stagnant, probably dry for a few months, natural, deepened, Poza de la Laguna Dulce, Macanao Peninsula, Margarita Island (GN 10º58’42” N, 64º23’54” W); WH 1936/13, stagnant, permanent, dug and dammed pond, Estanque Lato, west of Boca de Rio, Macanao Peninsula, Margarita Island (GN 10º58’03” N, 64º10’50” W); WH 1936/18, stagnant, probably permanent, natural lagoon, Laguna Honda, southeast of Juan Griego, Margarita Island (GN 11º04’54” N, 63º57’56” W). LOS TESTIGOS Archipelago—WH 1936/30 (emend., see remarks), stagnant, probably sometimes dry, dug and dammed pond, Poza del Morro de la Iguana, Iguana Island (GN 11º21’32” N, 63º08’03” W). LA BLANQUILLA Island—WH 1936/35, stagnant, permanent, dug pond, Pozo del “Falucho” (emend., not “Valucho”) (GN 11º50’57” N, 64º36’06” W); WH 1936/38, stagnant, permanent, dammed pond, Pozo de Aguada, north of “El Yaque” (emend., not “El Jaque”) (GN 11º50’57” N, 64º36’06” W). FALCÓN State —S 1978/320, well, c. 100 m southeast of Buena Vista, Paraguana Peninsula (11º53’05” N, 69º55’56” W).
Remarks: geographical distribution includes Aruba, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Eustatius, St. Martin, and Venezuela ( Broodbakker 1984a). Broodbakker (1984b) notes the species (≡ C. hummelincki hummelincki ) as an accompanying fauna of Diaphanocypris meridana , Heterocypris margaritae , Keysercypria affinis , Potamocypris hummelincki , and Rudjakoviella prolongata . From the information in Hummelinck (1940), it is assumed that sample WH 1936/30 was collected at Iguana Island, Los Testigos Archipelago ( Venezuela).
