Remarks. The lectotype of Sciaphilus brevipilis is 3.81 mm long, Desbrochers’s specimen of Sciaphilus tuniseus is 3.94 mm long. The moderately long body with oval elytra and very short raised elytral setae are very similar to those of C. submaculatus and C. veneriatus . However, C. brevipilis is distinguishable from C. submaculatus by its more slender rostrum and frontoepistomal area arched and from C. veneriatus by its frontoepistomal area regularly carinate posteriorly.
