Chilomyctere Bibron in Duméril, 1855: 278.
Spelled Chilomyctère . Accompanied by a diagnosis, thus available. A single included species, Diodon reticulatus Linnaeus, 1758 View in CoL , which is also type species by original designation by Duméril. Gender: masculine.
Chilomycterus Troschel, 1856: 88 View in CoL is an unjustified emendation. The name Chilomycterus View in CoL is already available from Brisout de Barneville (1846: 140) with the same type species.
