Holotype of Callanganum piceum , male, ‘Callanga, PERU’ ( MNHN).
Diagnosis. Close to C. humeralis , from which it differs in having whole pronotum black, posterior pronotal angles less prominent laterally, and long phallobase.
Redescription. Body dark brown, only lateral pronotal margins light brown ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–3 ). Distance between eyes 1.3× longer than maximal eye diameter. Maxillary and labial palpi dark brown. Pronotum ( Fig. 6 View Figures 4-8 ) 1.8× wider than long. Elytra 4× longer than wide in humeral portion. Male genitalia ( Figs. 13–14 View FIGURES 9–14 ) with phallobase as long as 2/3 of phallus, parameres with thorns apically, slightly shorter than half of phallus. Body length: 4.8 mm, humeral width: 1.1 mm.
Remark. Both antennae of the holotype missing.
