Type data: This species was described based on five males collected in an undetermined locality in Bolivia. Two of the syntypes were found, one in NMW and the other in ZMB. The specimen housed in this latter collection is here designated the lectotype. The exemplar has the following data label: [green label]\ Bolivia 1896 [handwritten]\ Centris nigripes n. sp. ♂ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [white label with red lateral margins] LECTO-TYPE [printed] Centris nigripes Friese, 1899 [handwritten] desig. Melo, 2016 [printed]\ http://coll.mfn-berlin.de/u/ 58fa37 QR code [printed] ( ZMB). Paralectotype male with the following data label: Bolivien [printed]\ Centris nigripes n. sp. ♂ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [red label] cotype [handwritten]\ Centris (Hemisiella) sp F. Zanella det., 1998 ( NMW). The current condition and depository of the remained paralectotypes are unknown.
Type locality: Bolivia .
Comments: Both sexes have reddish metasoma covered with blackish pubescence, also present on hind legs. In addition, the females have reduced yellow areas on clypeus and labrum. The type locality cannot be further narrowed down than to Bolivia .
