Type locality: Chile: Coquimbo .

Anthophora dimidiata Smith, 1854 View in CoL . 340.

Type data: This species was described based on males collected in Chile. A specimen belonging to the type series is housed at NHMUK and is here designated the lectotype. The exemplar has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17B.924 [handwritten]\ Anthophora dimidiata Sm. Chili Type [handwritten]\ F. Sm. Coll. 79.22 [printed] type [handwritten]\ = Centris nigerrima Spinola, 1851 Moldenke II-1978 [handwritten].

Type locality: Chile .

Comments: Taxonomic decision for synonymy: Cockerell (1913). This species was correctly interpreted by Zanella (2002) and Moure et al. (2007). The type locality of A. dimidiata cannot be further narrowed down than to Chile.
