Material examined: 1♂, Kharga Oasis (New Valley) [25°33’41.9”N 30°37’41.9”E], May, 2022, blue pan trap in V. faba intercropped with B. napus .

Brief description. Head (including antenna), mesosoma, and first metasomal tergite black, rest of metasoma and legs dark reddish brown; labrum, palpi and mandible (except black tip) are clear yellow; eyes whitish; ventral surface of anterior femur, and most of the middle femur pale brown to yellow. Fore wing hyaline, with dark brown pterostigma, veins C+SC+ R, r, 1- R 1, SR1, 2-SR; vein M+CU 1 pale, dark at apex; vein 1-SR+M transparent.

Head. Gena and posterior margin of head smooth and shiny, face finely punctate; ocellar triangle obtuse;

temple not narrowed after eye, gradually narrowed; occipital carina partly developed (laterally); antenna with 28

antennomeres, with all flagellomeres distinctly longer than wide; mandible with two teeth, inner tooth distinctly shorter than outer one; clypeus smooth and shiny, with few scattered fine setae, rounded apically; labrum slightly protruded medially; malar space slightly, but distinctly longer than mandibular base.

Mesosoma. Pronotum masked by the greatly elevated median lobe of mesoscutum in dorsal view, densely finely punctate; notauli deep, V-shaped, not reaching posterior margin of mesoscutum; middle lobe of mesoscutum densely punctate above, coarsely rugose between closure of notauli; lateral lobes of mesoscutum less elevated, smooth and shiny; scutellum smooth and shiny; propodeum foveolate, with two lateral longitudinal carinae; propleuron smooth and shiny above, coarsely punctate in lower two thirds; mesopleuron depressed medially, depression densely punctate to foveolate, smooth around the sculptured depression. Legs including femora slender; hind femur 6.0× as long as wide. Fore wing with vein 1-SR+M transparent as if absent; radial cell short, about as long as pterostigma;

vein cu-a slightly postfurcal.

Metasoma. T 1 clearly petiolate, quadrate posteriorly, longitudinally striated medially, shiny and smooth posteriorly, with few scattered fine setae; spiracles present just after middle; rest of tergites smooth and shiny,

posterior margins of T 4 and following tergites with row of fine, pale setae; all sternites are smooth and shiny, bare.

Comments: This is the first record of the genus Centistes Haliday in Egypt, as well as a new plant record as being collected in association with faba bean .
