LECTOTYPE (designated here). — Turkey. [A8 Çoruh] im Gaue Pertakrek [ Peterek ] im Hochgebirge , c. 6000 ft (1829 m) hoch, auf Porphyr, 1843, K. H. E. Koch s.n. (lecto-, P [ P00646491 ]! ; isolecto-, GOET [ GOET001277 ]!) .
REMARKS
Koch (1851) described Centaurium leptophyllum ( Centaurea leptophylla ) based on collections of him from Pertakrek, but did not designate an holotype nor did mention the name of the herbarium where the specimens were housed. Two specimens of C. leptophylla collected by Koch from Pertakrek were found. Based on art. 40, note 1 ( McNeill et al. 2012) both must be treated as syntypes. The best one and better preserved sheet, P00646491, is designated here as the lectotype, because it is in better condition than another specimen and shows all relevant characters with the protologue.
