Type (lectotype designated by Molau 1988: 252):— BOLIVIA. Tarija: Prov. Arce, Bermejo , 1800 m, 31 March 1904, Fiebrig 3394 (G!, GH!) .
Perennial herb, 18–70 cm tall, stems succulent, greenish. Leaves petiolate; petioles 0.6–6.8 cm long, nodal wings when present 0.3–7.1 mm wide; lamina ovate, 2.8–15.7 × 2.5–11.3 cm, pinnatifid to deeply lobate, margins dentate to serrate. Sepals ovate, 3–9.6 × 3–7.8 mm, green. Corolla pale yellow, 6–17.5 × 8–17.6 mm; stamens with upper theca 1.2–2.3 mm long, lower theca 0.4–1.4 mm long (rarely absent), connective 1.5–4.9 mm long, dorsal protuberance present or absent. Capsules ovoid to globose, ca. 6 mm long.
Distribution: —Southeast Peru to north Argentina between 2300–4000 m.
