Synonyms: Hamacreadium epinepheli Yamaguti, 1934 ; Cainocreadoides epinepheli ( Yamaguti, 1934) , Nagaty 1956.

Records. From the Hong Kong grouper, Epinephelus akaara (Temminck & Schlegel) (Serranidae) , and Lethrinus haematopterus off Japan by Yamaguti (1934). From the spottedtail morwong, Cheilodactylus zonatus Cuvier ( Perciformes : Cheilodactylidae ) [as Goniistius zonatus (Cuvier) ] off Japan by Yamaguti (1940). From the areolate grouper, Epinephelus areolatus (Forsskål) , E. chlorostigma , the Summan grouper, Epinephelus summana (Forsskål) , the greasy grouper, Epinephelus tauvina (Forsskål) , and L. nebulosus in the Persian/Arabian Gulf by Saoud et al. (1986). From E. quoyanus and E. merra off Heron Island, southern Great Barrier Reef, Australia by Bray & Cribb (1989).

Remarks. This species has a medial genital pore, a strongly tapered teat-like posterior and is well established as a genuine species of Cainocreadium .
