Genus Heteromeiropsis Pierotti & Bellò
Heteromeira Solari, 1955: 40 View in CoL (partim); Pierotti & Bellò, 1998: 97 (partim); Alonso-Zarazaga & Lyal, 1999: 171 (partim).
Heteromeiropsis Pierotti & Bellò, 2004: 586 View in CoL .
Type species: Heteromeira zariquieyi Solari, 1954 , by original designation.
For description see Pierotti & Bellò (2004). A genus with a trans-Pyrenaean distribution ( Fig. 67). Includes three species.
Diagnosis. Species of small to medium size (3.9–5.2 mm), characterised by elongate body and notched epistoma (a difference from Meira and Meirella ), pterygia hardly prominent, frontal sulcus distinct, sides of prorostrum dorsally flattened to near eye margin, frons distinctly higher than eye margin in lateral view, and endophallic structures disposed in an ostium group, two median groups and a gonoporal group (of periteloid type), characters that allow its distinction from any other Spanish periteline genus, in particular from Pseudomeira .
