Diagnosis
Frons without transverse carina between the eyes, formation of interocular tubercles. Pronotum mesoanteriorly with curved structure towards the head, without angulations on each side of structure ( Figure 6 View Figure 6 (d)).
Type material. The type series are deposited at the MACN. It was possible to analyse the holotype from photo.
Holotype. ‘ BOLIVIA /Dep. Sta. Cruz/Prov. Ichilo/Buenavista/ Coll. Martínez //Oct: 949// ; HOLOTYPUS [red rectangular label]; Bolbapium /howdeni/ ♂ /sp.nv./ A Martínez – DET – 76; Fichado’ (MACN-Em/1136).
Redescription
Body size: Legth: 5.91–7.47 mm. Width: 4.48–5.99 mm. Head: Frons without transverse carina between the eye, and presents interocular tubercle, one on each side, the base being wider than the apex; slight slope between the tubercles, marked by unevenly distributed points. Pronotum: Pronotum mesoanteriorly with curved structure towards the head, without angulations on each side of structure, and occupying more than half the interocular width. Disc sides with unevenly distributed points. Legs: Second and third pair of legs with adjacent spurs; both spiniform. The first spur is smaller than the first tarsomere and the second is larger. Male terminalia: In dorsal view, short and flat parameres ( Figure 11 View Figure 11 (d)). In lateral view posterior margin with rounded projection beyond the apex of the parameres ( Figure 11 View Figure 11 (f)). Sexual dimorphism: This species does not feature sexual dimorphism. Remarks: Martínez (1976) described the species based on two individuals from Bolivia . The type series consists of the holotype, collected by J .P .R. de Martínez and A. Martínez in the province of Ichilo, Buenavista, and the paratype, collected by A . Martínez in the province of Sara , Santa Rosa . Both are in the Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences , Buenos Aires, Argentina .
Differential diagnosis. Bolbapium howdeni is morphologically similar to B. boillyi sp. nov., B. borgmeieri ; B. caesum , B. modestum , B. parcepunctatum , B. sampaioorum sp. nov., and B. santanaorum sp. nov. in not presenting the transverse carina forehead interconnecting the interocular tubercles. However, it is easily differentiated by presenting at the pronotum a curved structure towards the head, without angulations.
Geographical distribution. Brazil (Acre, Amazonas, Mato Grosso and Pará) and Bolivia (Santa Cruz) .
Non-type material. 20 specimens.
