( Figs 86, 87 View FIGURES 86–93 , 190, 191 View FIGURES 188–191 , 246 View FIGURES 246–251 )

Barsine persephone Volynkin & Černý, 2018 , Ecologica Montenegrina , 19: 62, figs 1–3, 9, 10, 14 (Type locality: “ Thailand, Changwat Chiang Mai, Mt. Doi Phahompok, 16 km NW of Fang, 2000 m”).

Type material examined. Holotype ( Figs 86 View FIGURES 86–93 , 190 View FIGURES 188–191 ): ♂, Thailand, Changwat Chiang Mai, Mt. Doi Phahompok , 16 km NW of Fang, 2000 m, 27.III.1998, leg. Tibor Csővári & Pál Stéger, slide MWM 31379 Volynkin (Coll. MWM/ ZSM) . Paratypes: 15 ♂ and 7 ♀ from Thailand and Vietnam (Coll. MWM/ ZSM) listed by Volynkin & Černý (2018c) .

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 13–14 mm in males and 13–15in females. Externally, B. persephone is similar to B. specialis , but differs clearly by its shorter posterior brown subbasal dash, much broader distal brown area connected to the discal spot in the cell and to the medial brown subbasal dash, the presence of two creamy spots in the distal brown area opposite the cell corners, and creamy white terminal area, while in B. specialis the posterior brown subbasal dash is long, the discal spot is separated in the medial creamy white area, the distal brown area is narrower and connected to the posterior brown subbasal dash, the light spots in the distal brown area are absent, and the terminal area is brown. The hindwing of B. persephone differs clearly from that of B. specialis by the creamy white ground color and the pattern consisting of a brown wavy medial transverse line and an intense brown suffusion on veins in the marginal area, whereas in B. specialis hindwing is monotonous dark brown. The male genitalia of B. persephone differ from those of both B. specialis and B. asotoida by the broader and apically tapered medial costal process, the much longer and curved distal costal process, the almost straight distal saccular process, and the subbasal diverticula covered with numerous spinules (in B. specialis and B. asotoida , the ventral diverticula are granulated). The female genitalia of B. persephone differ from those of B. asotoida by the significantly longer antrum, and from those of B. specialis by the significantly longer and weaker sclerotized antrum, and the smaller appendix bursae.

Distribution. North Thailand (Chiang Mai) and North Vietnam (Fan-si-pan Mts.) ( Volynkin & Černý 2018c).
