Baeus leucophthalmus Araujo & Vivallo new species
( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 and 18 View FIGURES 16 – 18 )
Diagnosis. Baeus leucophthalmus new species is similar to B. fluminensis new species sharing the rounded distal margin of T7 and the same body coloration and differing from it in POD/OOD, the triangular distal edge of the clypeus and the presence of narrow yellowish area surrounding compound eyes. Baeus leucophthalmus new species is similar to B. morenus new species sharing the presence of dense pilosity on the dorsal surface of mesosma and metasoma, and the triangular distal edge of the clypeus ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 18 ) and differing from it by POD/OOD, and longer clypeus ( Figs. 17, 18 View FIGURES 16 – 18 ).
Description. Holotype female: Body length: 0.54 mm.
Body dark brown. Narrow, yellowish area surrounding compound eye present. A1 dark brown with yellow distal end. A2–A6 dark brown. Antennal club yellow. Coxae and trochanters dark brown. Femora and tibiae dark brown with yellow distal end. Tarsomeres of fore and middle legs brown. Tarsal claws yellow.
Head 1.26 times as wide as high (frontal view) 1.44 times as wide as mesosoma, 1.13 times as wide as metasoma (dorsal view) and 3.65 times as long as malar space (lateral view). Clypeus elongated, distal edge triangular ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 16 – 18 ). Eye width 1.33 times as wide as interorbital distance. POD 41 times as long as OOD. A1 1.12 times as long as sum of A2–A6. A2 2.11 times as long as wide. Antennal club without traces of transverse sutures marking lines of separation of clavomeres, 2.19 times as long as wide and 1.24 times as wide as sum of A2–A6. Dorsal surface of the mesosoma and metasoma covered by dense pilosity.
Mesoscutum transverse, 1.25 times as wide as long.
Metasoma 1.27 times as wide as mesosoma. T2 1.26 times as wide as long, being the largest tergite. T7 with rounded distal margin.
Variation: Body length 0.53–0.55 mm.
