Distribution. China (Sichuan).

Diagnosis. The male genitalia of Argyresthia (A.) scalprata are unique among all congeners in having a knifeshaped valva and a broad saccus. This new species resembles A. (A.) ivella (Haworth, 1828) in the shape of the saccus, but it can be separated easily by the distinct shape of the valva.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin scalpratus, meaning knife-shaped, referring to the knife-shaped valva in the male genitalia.
