Archboldomys musseri Rickart, Heaney, Tabaranza, Jr., and Balete 1998 View in CoL , Fieldiana Zool., n. s., 89: 17.
Type Locality: Philippines, N Luzon Isl, Cagayan Province, Callao Municipality, Sierra Madre Range, Mt Cetaceo, 1650 m, 17°42'N, 122°02'E. GoogleMaps
Vernacular Names: Sierra Madre Shrew Mouse.
Distribution: Greater Luzon Faunal Region where it is known from the type locality and the Balbalasang region of Kalinga Province at 1900 m (Rickart and Heaney, 2002), but may occur elsewhere in montane forest throughout N Luzon ( Rickart et al., 1998).
Discussion: Documented by two specimens from the type locality and a sample from Kalinga Province referred to A. musseri . Standard karyotype (2n estimated as 44 with mostly telocentric elements) strikingly different from that of A. luzonensis (Rickart and Heaney, 2002) and may turn out to be indistinguishable or closely similar to those of Chrotomys silaceus , C. gonzalesi , and Rhynchomys isarogensis (karyotypes described by Rickart and Musser, 1993, and Rickart and Heaney, 2002).
