The ornigis -group
This and the following circumscriptus- group comprise most of circumscriptus -group of Nixon (1965, 1973) and Papp ( 1983 a, b). The division between them seems to be supportable so far by the maxillary setal number in the final instar larvae. The groups are fairly easily separated by the degree of sculpturing of T1–T2 ( Whitfield, 2006). Distinguishable features of this group in Photelesor are as follows: T1 subparallel-sided to posteriorly narrowed, usually much longer than broad, coarsely sculptured; rarely broadening weakly posteriorly and not much longer than broad; T2 broadly trapezoidal to subtriangular, coarsely sculptured, slightly to much shorter than T3; T3 sculptured at most antero-medially, rarely over most of tergite but not rounded posterolaterally. We include two species from China: P. laetus (Marshall, 1885) and P. salalicus Mason, 1959 .
