Amorphacarus hengererorum Jameson

Ex Sorex cinereus (masked shrew): 1F, NC, Swain Co., Clingman’s Dome, 16 Nov. 2002, K. Walters, L­3033. Whitaker & Wilson (1974) reported A. hengererorum from four species of shrews (including S. cinereus )

and one species of rodent in North America but this is the first record of this mite from North Carolina and the

Park.
