A. (Ammoplanus) curvidens Tsuneki , sp. revocata

Ammoplanus curvidens Tsuneki, 1972: 220 View in CoL ±221. Mongolia. Holotype male, by original designation; in TMB (examined).

Marshakov (1976: 679) regarded this species as identical with A. bischo but from the examination of its holotype I cannot agree with him.

Male. The main characters separating it from A. bischo are as follows (see also the key). Pterostigma very dark, becoming pale shortly at base. Pale mask on lower face white (yellowish in bischo ). Underside of head on sides of oral fossa with rather coarse pilosity and distinctly convex except in middle where the surface short distance behind fossa strongly deepens towards foramen magnum; oral fossa about as long (deep) as its distance from foramen magnum. Head in frontal view with part above eyes almost half as high as length of one eye (35 5 60), distance between inner sides of eyes above only slightly greater (69) than that at their lower ends (58). Frons in cross-belt between upper ends of eyes (here no foveae detectable) very slightly convex, vertically microstriate, intermixed piliferous punctures minute, hardly visible. Antennal toruli slightly nearer to eyes than to each other, outside of each torulus a broad shallow pit shiny on bottom. Median clypeal tooth very small; submedian teeth outcurving as in bischo , but shorter, anterior side of clypeus outside of each tooth slightly shorter than one torular diameter; quadrangular emargination in middle slightly narrower than distance between toruli. Chitinization of labrum as in bischo . Shoulders of pronotal collar rounded, ®nely sculptured, bare. Maximum diagonal length of marginal cell (within veins) 1.75 times its length at anterior margin. Propodeum antero-medially with coarse irregular areolation, followed by rather strong, transverse-subdiagona l carinae; median carina not present.

Distal sternites (®gure 84) quite diOEerent from bischo . Third and fourth sternites shorter than the second; hind margin of sternite 4 shallowly broadly emarginate, with narrow belt of thin adpressed hairs pointing caudad. Sternite 5 very long at sides, here reaching level with exposed base of seventh sternite and on either side ending with raised triangular tooth composed of thick erect hairs; between these lateral teeth hind margin of sternite 5 with deep and large semicircular emargination reaching in middle preceding sternite (the fourth), along its margin with long adpressed hairs appearing silvery and situated perpendicularly to the margin and pointing to centre of large mound in middle. Most of the mound is formed mainly by sternite 6 and is covered by thick erect setae suggesting two small peaks in middle; its similiarly hairy posterior part belongs to base of sternite 7 and ®ts closely into angular excision of sternite 6.

Female. Not known.
