Remark. Hampson (1900) listed A. figuratus , C. chinensis , H. rhodina and A. fuscescens as synonyms of Miltochrista delineata . The synonymic status of A. figuratus , C. chinensis and A. fuscescens was confirmed by Volynkin & Černý (2017) and, in addition, the authors synonymized M. dimidiata with A. delineata . The type of H. rhodina was not located and is probably lost. Volynkin & Černý (2017) did not include this taxon to the synonymic list of A. delineata due to its type locality, the island of Borneo, where species of the subgenus Delineatia do not occur, and supposed that H. rhodina might be conspecific to some other externally similar species like Integrivalvia exclusa ( Butler, 1877). However, the male specimen illustrated in the original drawing of H. rhodina ( Fig. 4 ) is conspicuously dissimilar to I. exclusa and identical to the typical form of A. delineata . During further examination of extensive materials from Borneo deposited in the MWM/ZSM, CKC and NHMUK the senior author found no any similar species and we can only suppose that the Herrich-Schäffer’s type specimen was mislabeled and here we confirm the synonymy of H. rhodina with A. delineata .

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 12–14 mm in males and 14–18 mm in females. The species is highly variable externally, with the ground color varying from brownish red or orange brown to brownish black. The forewing pattern consists of thin and sharp or diffuse blackish brown transverse lines and longitudinal strokes in the submarginal area. The dark form (described as A. fuscescens and M. dimidiata ) have the blackish brown forewing ground color with only small brick red or orange brown areas in the subbasal and antemedial areas. The male genitalia of A. delineata are characterized by the medial costal process having a short but broad base and a thin claw-like tip; the massive distal costal process bearing a dorsal crest of short trigonal various-sized denticles and a narrow outer thorn directed distally; and the narrow vesica with a medial chamber bearing a cluster of strong spinulose scobination. The female genitalia are characterized by the broad but relatively short postvaginal plate with a shallow medial posterior concatity.

Distribution. The species is widespread in mainland China (Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Guangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong Provinces) ( Daniel 1951; Fang 2000; Dubatolov et al. 2012; Volynkin & Černý 2017). The records from Taiwan ( Chang 1989; Wang 1994; Fang 2000; Dubatolov et al. 2012; Volynkin & Černý 2017) belong to A. tairadiata sp. n.
