MATERIAL EXAMINED: Holotype female: Colombia: Valle, Parque Nacional Natural Farallones de Cali, Anchicayá, 03°26´S, 76°48´W, 730 m, malaise trap, 18.II1.III.2000 (Sarria) ( IAVH).
HOLOTYPE FEMALE: Mandible proximally rather strongly tapered, distally almost parallel sided, with upper tooth slightly longer than lower tooth. Malar space about 0.3 times basal mandibular width. Face polished, with very sparse setiferous punctures, about 1.3 times as wide as medially high. Lengthtothickness ratio of first flagellomere about 5.5. Head, in dorsal view, with gena rather wide and evenly rounded behind eye; posterior ocellus separated from compound eye by about 1.5 times its own maximum diameter; ocelli forming a rather equilateral triangle; occipital carina present ventrally as a vestige, joining hypostomal carina. Pronotum in profile rather long, mediodorsally quite short. Mesoscutum with isolated short whitish hairs, anteriorly evenly rounded, with notauli moderately impressed. Mesopleuron highly polished, very finely and sparsely punctate, and with some light hairs; epicnemial carina low, not reaching the level of lower corner of pronotum; epicnemium with a secondary carina adjacent to front coxa. Metapleuron moderately convex, smooth and polished; submetapleural carina complete. Propodeum in profile rather abruptly declivous, smooth, laterally with very sparse setiferous punctures; pleural carina complete. Fore wing length about 11.2 mm; vein 3rsm complete, enclosing an obliquely rhombic areolet. Hind wing with abscissa of Cu 1 between M and cua more or less straight, about 1.8 times as long as cua. Metasoma quite stout; tergite 1 about as long as posteriorly broad, lateral carina present anteriorly, extending to the level of the spiracle; tergite 2 about 0.5 times as long as posteriorly broad, with a more or less rhombic smooth central area, lateral oblique and posterior transverse grooves polished; tergites 35 with a wide, slightly biconvex smooth central area, the surrounding furrows polished. Ovipositor projecting beyond apex of metasoma by 3.1 times length of hind tibia; ovipositor shaft moderately slender, slightly upcurved, weakly laterally compressed; apex of lower valve dorsolaterally expanded to partially enclose the upper valve, with about six very weak teeth; apex of upper valve slightly concave preapically, convexly tapered, with very weak teeth dorsally.
Head and antenna black. Mesosoma orange with propleuron and anterior margin of pronotum black. Metasoma with tergites 15 yellowish orange, tergite 6 brownish black, the remaining tergites black. Legs predominantly black with tibiae paler, front and middle coxae whitish marked in front, tarsi of front and middle legs yellowish brown. Wings yellowish, fore wing with apex distal 3 rsm blackish, and with a blackish median band extending from Rs & M to level of middle of pterostigma; hind wing with a blackish subapical dorsal spot; apex of pterostigma bright yellow.
MALE unknown.
DIAGNOSIS: In appearance, A. farallonensis is quite similar to A. matogrossoensis , but differs from it most distinctly in structure in the relative lengths of the ovipositor (3.1 vs 2.5), and in the relative length of the abscisa of the vein Cu1 (1.8 vs 4.0). In color, A. farallonensis also resembles A. matogrossoensis , but has the clypeus black, propleuron black, pronotum partly black and fore and middle legs mainly black.
ETYMOLOGY: The specific name refers to the type locality of this species.
