Ecological category. Endogeic.
Habitat. Synathropic species common in pastures, gardens, meadows and forests. More abundant in moist soils.
Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine.
Distribution in Croatia. One of the commonest earthworm species in the Continental region of Croatia, but found in all three regions. Omodeo (1954): Učka; Šapkarev (1979): Batina, Bigina poljana, darda, Kopačevo, Tikveška šuma, Novska, Osijek, Petlovac, Split, Vinkovci, Zagreb; Mršić (1984, 1987, 1988): Bačić Duliba - Položine, Baške Oštarije, Bili Brig, Jankovac, Prevlaka, Psunj, Smiljan, Štirovača, Učka; Jelić (1985): Sakadaško jezero, Podunavlje; Hackenberger: Stara Drava-Osijek, Jankovac, Zoljani, Našice, Slavonski Brod, Josipovac, Donji MIholjac, Osijek, Turkovići, Kneja, Potok Musulinski, Jasenak, Lič, Ledenice, Mikleuš, Bjelsko, Breze.
