Range: —Endemic to Bolivia (CO, LP).
Ecology: —Common; pendent epiphyte, also saxicolous, in humid forests, often with Polylepis , mostly in shady places on tree trunks, gorges, rocky cliffs, and shallow caves that have high humidity but are not directly exposed to rain, often deeply buried in moss mats and perhaps for that reason with numerous reduced proximal segments; (1850) 2400–4000 m.
Notes: —Intermediate specimens are known with Alansmia contacta , these may represent hybrids.
