Description of holotype, ♀: Body length: 2.4 mm; fore wing length: 2.4 mm.

Color. Head black, except for mandibles and palpi brown. Mesosoma black, except for propleuron and tegula dark brown. Wings fuscous, stigma and venation brown. Legs dark brown, except for hind tarsi 2–5 brown. Metasoma dark brown.

Head. Length of head in dorsal view 0.6× longer than wide. Antennae 0.8 as long as the body, flagellomeres 6–17 with a distinct expansion apical-ventrally; scape 2.0× longer than wide. Eye height about 3× longer than malar space. Mostly sparsely punctate, punctation denser at frons; face transversely striate, with mid-longitudinal carina from between antennal sockets to middle of face. Malar suture present.

Mesosoma. Mesonotum punctate. Notauli absent. Pronotum smooth, with crenulate groove. Propleuron smooth. Mesopleuron smooth with sternaulus crenulate. Scutellar sulcus with 8 divisions. Scutellum punctate. Metanotum rugose. Metapleuron rugose. Propodeum with anterior aspect entirely rugose; posterior aspect with an irregularly shaped areola; transverse carina complete, although irregular.

Wings. Fore wing vein r 0.4× stigma height; vein R1 0.26x longer than stigma; stigma 3.0× longer than g

Legs. Hind tibial spurs about 0.25× the hind tibia; hind tibia 6× longer than its maximum width. All legs weakly punctate, and coxae smooth except for hind coxae dorsally rugose.

Metasoma. All terga smooth.

Male. Unknown.

Variation. Paratypes virtually identical to holotype. Body length 2.0– 2.4 mm; fore wing length 2.0– 2.4 mm.

Diagnosis. Adelius ecuadoriensis sp. n. is completely black, with infuscate wings and brown veins and stigma. The fore wing cross vein r is present, and hind coxa is rugose dorsally. It closely resembles A. excelsus sp. n. The distinction between these species is made under diagnosis for A. excelsus . Biology. Unknown. Distribution. Known only from the type locality. Etymology. This species is named after Ecuador, the country where it was discovered.
