Southwest Atlantic, between 22°29'S (D'Incao & Martins 2000) and 44°00'S, coastal waters from 3 to 50 m (Boschi et al. 1992). Vereshchaka et al. (2016) treated Peisos Burkenroad, 1945 as a junior synonym of Acetes H. Milne Edwards, 1830 ; however, this decision appears based on an unsupported polytomy in their analysis and this taxonomic decision is herein not followed.
