Lectotype ( D’Arcy in Woodson & Schery in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 67: 789. 1980): Herb. Linn. No. 915.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Ulex Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 175. 1929).

Current name: Ulex europaeus L. subsp. europaeus ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Although Fawcett & Rendle ( Fl. Jamaica 4: 12. 1920) indicated the type was in LINN, they did not distinguish between several sheets there (evidently from more than one gathering so Art. 9.15 does not apply).
