DISTRIBUTION: Guadalcanal Isl. (Solomon Isis.).

COMMENT: Tate, 1951, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 97:314, placed this species in Uromys , but Laurie and Hill, 1954:126, and subsequent authors included it in Melomys .
