Holotype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white label: “Sanlong / 89.7”; (2) printed on red label: “ HOLOTYPE ”; (3) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white label: “ Pegohylemyia / tortiforceps / Identifier: Anxiao Deng ”; (4) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red label: “ TYPE / Botanophila / tortiforceps / (Deng) ”.

Preservation: pinned; genitalia dissected and mounted on slide pinned with the specimen. Missing parts: left fore and mid legs.

Paratype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white label: “Sanlong / 89.7”; (2) printed on yellow label: “ PARATYPE ”; (3) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white label: “ Pegohylemyia / tortiforceps / Identifier: Deng ”; (4) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red label: “ PARATYPE / Botanophila / tortiforceps / (Deng) ”.

Preservation: pinned; specimen intact.

Paratypes male and female with the same labels respectively: (1) handwritten on white label: “Sanlong / 89.7”; (2) printed on yellow label: “ PARATYPE ”; (3) printed on blue label: “ ALLOTYPE ”; (4) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white label: “ Pegohylemyia / tortiforceps / Identifier: Anxiao Deng ”; (5) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red label: “ PARATYPE / Botanophila / tortiforceps / (Deng) ”.

Preservation: pinned; male and female mating; fifth sternite of male mounted on slide.

Additional notes: Holotype collected by Anxiao Deng at Sanlong Village of Maowen County, Sichuan Province.

Current name: Botanophila tortiforceps (Deng, 1993) .
