Type and only known host. Spencer’s monitor, Varanus spenceri Lucas & Frost, 1903 ( Squamata : Varanidae ). Site of infection. Upper small intestine.
Type locality. Nelia , Central-west Queensland, Australia .
Additional localities. Not known.
Type material. Holotype ( QM G235015 ), paratypes (MHNG-PLAT-31201; QM G235016 – G235018 ). Material studied. See Jones & de Chambrier (2016).

Remarks. This species was described recently by Jones & de Chambrier (2016), based on specimens from frozen V. spenceri in Australia. It was distinguished from the remaining species of Kapsulotaenia by the almost exclusively (in 93% of proglottids) anterior position of the vagina in relation to the cirrus-sac (only posterior or mostly posterior in congeners—Table 2), the number of the eggs in spherical clusters (8–13), diameter of the embryophore, large size of the strobila and the absence of a vaginal sphincter ( Jones & de Chambrier 2016).
