Length (including tegmen). Male: 6.8mm (3 specimens); female: 7.6–8.0mm (3 specimens).

Color as in generic description, female pregenital sternite with brown mark each side of midline posteriorly. Fore tibia with dorsal macrosetae arrangement of rows AD and PD: female 6+4, male 2 (basal and apical) + 4.

Male genitalia. Style with apophysis stout, foot-like, preapical lobe weak. Aedeagus with shaft evenly curved dorsally, cylindrical, similar in width throughout length in lateral view, elongate ventral process from socle distinctly longer than shaft, twisted to one side and tapered to acute apex.

Material examined. Holotype: male, Papua New Guinea, Madang Province, Pau Village, 1995-96, on Ficus , NHMUK 0 10747669. Paratypes: 1 male, 3 females, same data as holotype ; 2 males, same data as holotype except Ohu Village (all BMNH), NHMUK 010747670-75 About NHMUK .

Etymology. The specific epithet “ ficus ” refers to the host plant, Ficus and is treated as a noun in apposition.

Remarks. This species differs from P. robustipenis by the characters indicated in the key.
