Type species: Tenuipalpus quadrisetosus Lawrence, 1940 .
Diagnosis (as in Beard et al. (2016) with the following changes). Female. Venter membranous, mostly to entirely finely striate/plicate or with large regions of smooth cuticle; posterior venter with defined membranous genital flap, and weakly defined anal flaps. Palps four segmented; palp setal formula: 0, 0, 2, (2); palp tarsi with two distal phaneres (one small to minute solenidion basally inserted on segment (longer in male); one distal eupathidium). Femora IV with two setae (d, evʹ) ( E. niekerkae , E. quadrisetosus , E. situngu ) or nude ( E. sagittus ); setae d on femora and tibiae I–IV inserted in strongly lateral position; genua I–II with two setae (lʹ, lʺ present, d absent; E. sagittus ) or three setae (d, lʹ, lʺ; E. quadrisetosus , E. niekerkae , E. situngu ), genua III with one seta (lʹ), genua IV nude; tibiae II with five (d, lʹ, lʺ, vʹ, vʺ) or four setae (d, lʺ, vʹ, vʺ present; lʹ absent in E. sagittus ); tibiae III–IV with three setae (d, v′, v″); tarsi I–IV segments elongate with setae inserted distally (except E. sagittus with shorter segments); tarsi I–II with ftʺ short, barbed, inserted proximal to ftʹ and distant to ωʺ (except E. sagittus , ftʺ longer, not strongly proximal); tarsi I–II with eupathidia p′ζ–pʺζ inserted on small, cuneiform projections closely flanking pretarsus; ta I–IV with seta ft′ inserted on small tubercle. Immatures. Deutonymph: genua I–II with two setae (lʹ, lʺ present, d absent; E. sagittus ) or three setae (d, lʹ, lʺ; E. quadrisetosus , E. niekerkae , E. situngu ), genua III with one seta (lʹ), genua IV nude. Larvae (known for E. quadrisetosus , E. sagittus ): with elongate flagellate setae h2; genua I–III with one seta (l′).
Included species: E. niekerkae ( Meyer, 1979) ; E. quadrisetosus ( Lawrence, 1940) ; E. sagittus ( Meyer, 1993) — Beard et al. 2016: 39; E. situngu Beard & Ueckermann sp. nov.
