Calyxochaetus frontalis species group
Diagnosis. The C. frontalis species group is defined by males having fore tarsomere 1 very short ( Figs 116–119 View FIGURES 104–119 ) and mid tarsomere 2 with apex widened and pointed anteroapically ( Figs 120–131 View FIGURES 120–131 ). Mid tarsomeres 3–4 are short and sometimes modified in shape. Males often have the hind tibia with specialized ventral seta(e) near base ( Figs 132–136 View FIGURES 132–138 ). Scutellum usually with distinct blue-violet reflections.
Remarks. Most species occurring in Mexico and Central America are in this group.
