Material examined. Lectotype (here designated, Fig. 18 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ) in MNHN: ex collection J. Thomson, now in coll. R. Oberthür. This lectotype is a female and bears the following labels: “Fiscipes Dejean” / “ Type ” / “3”; and a label typical of Thomson’s collection: “ Dejeanii Type Buqt. Bras.” and a red label: “ Hemicladus dejeani Buquet, 1857 Ƥ Lectotype Tavakilian, Dalens & Touroult det. 2009”. Although bearing a male label, the lectotype is in fact a female. We did not designate a paralectotype as there was no evidence to suggest that the second specimen had belonged to Buquet’s collection. One label on the lectotype specimen, with a blue border typical of Thomson’s collection, indicates Brazil as the locality whereas Buquet (1857: 329) indicates French Guiana. Buquet’s description, based on an indeterminate number of specimens, perfectly fits the lectotype specimen which has been designated in order to fix the usage of the name dejeanii Buquet. Specimens of H. dejeanii have hitherto been mixed with H. buqueti sp. n. in the MNHN’s collection. Type locality: FRENCH GUIANA, Cayenne. Distribution: Brazil, French Guiana.
Additional material in MNHN: one specimen without precise data, except the labels “Muséum Paris” / “Collection Thomson, n° 1975”.
