Cyclorhamphus [sic] eleutherodactylus var. strigillata A. Lutz 1929: 13 , pl. 3, fig. 5.

Current name. Cycloramphus eleutherodactylus ( Miranda-Ribeiro, 1920) — Bokermann (1966: 32).

Synonymy. Synonymized with Cycloramphus eleutherodactylus ( Miranda-Ribeiro, 1920) by Bokermann (1966: 32), without comments. Confirmed by Heyer (1983: 275).

Holotype. By monotypy, AL-MN 712 ( Fig. 2 ), “S„o Paulo, 10.I.25, Vellard ded.”, in the label originally attached to the specimen. A. Lutz (1929: 12) refers to “... tenho um exemplar, apanhado ao lado da estrada nova que vae de S. Paulo para Santos e dado pelo Dr. Vellard. ” (in free translation, “... I have one specimen, collected by side of the new road from S„o Paulo to Santos and given by Dr. Vellard. ”)

Type locality. “... the new road from S„o Paulo to Santos ...” (A. Lutz, 1929) was referred by Bokermann (1966: 32) as “Via Anchieta, Cubat„o (= Estrada Nova de S„o Paulo a Santos) S„o Paulo”. However, the Anchieta Highway (SP-150) was finished in 1947 (Northern track) and in 1953 (Southern track) (https://www.abctudo.com. br/sai/#1614972494584-c52736f9-c9b6), therefore long after the holotype collect. Actually, the road referred by A. Lutz (1929) is the “Rodovia Caminho do Mar” (SP-148), also known as “Estrada Velha de Santos” (“Old Road of Santos”). This was the older and main connection between the coast (Baixada Santista) and the S„o Paulo de Piratininga village (currently the City of S„o Paulo) during the colonial period to mid-century XX. Since 1985, the road is closed to cars and trucks, having only tourist purposes (Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia). It is currently impossible to determine the precise point along the road where the holotype was collected.
