Plistonax Thomson, 1864 View in CoL
Type-species: Plistonax multipunctatus Thomson, 1864
Currently Plistonax contains 9 Neotropical species, distributed especially in the Amazon and Atlantic rainforests. According to Silva Júnior et al. (2019) one of the main characteristics that distinguishes Plistonax from the other genera in Acanthoderini, is the presence of a white seta inserted in most elytral punctures. Although Plistonax Thomson, 1864 may be well-delimited, currently, there are species from Aegomorphus and Acanthoderes that possibly belong to Plistonax . This genus is under study by the third author.
