Diagnostic features. Body elongate, dorsal surface ferruginous to dark castaneous, with one pair of pale yellow callosities on pronotum, three on scutellum and one at the apex of corium radial vein ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 96–97 ). Mandibular plates subequal to clypeus and rounded apically. Pronotum sloping. Anterolateral margins of pronotum concave. Humeral angles with variable development, from weakly produced to forming an acute spine, directed laterally ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 96–97 ). Body length: 7.00–10.00 mm.

Recorded host plants. Canola ( Bianchi et al. 2019), rice, soybean and wheat ( Grazia 1977; Link & Grazia 1987; Kishino & Alves 1994; Panizzi 2008a).

Distribution in Rio Grande do Sul. Eldorado do Sul, Guaíba, Passo Fundo, Pelotas, Rio Grande, Santa Maria and Tapes ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 96–97 ).

Comments. This species is known as the small rice stink bug. Comparisons between this species and O. ypsilongriseus are written in the latter’s comments section.
