Type locality. Silverstream.

Broun number: 3246.

Type material examined. 2 exx. Lectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “3246.” [in Broun’s hand], “Silverstream \ Wellington.” [in Broun’s hand], “Lectotype ♂ \ Cyphon pachymerus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Paralectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “PARA- \ LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “3246.” [in Broun’s hand], “Silverstream. \ Wellington.” [in Broun’s hand], “ Cyphon \ pachymerus .” [in Broun’s hand], “Paralectotype ♀ \ Cyphon pachymerus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. Broun (1912) examined two specimens received from A. O’Connor of Wellington. Broun noted in the original description that this species probably represents a distinct genus.
