Type locality. Wellington.

Broun number: 582.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “Holo- \ type” [round label with red border], “582”, “Wellington \ Buchanan” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, Cyphpon \ amplus ” [in Broun’s hand], “Holotype \ Cyphon amplus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. Broun studies a single, “mutilated” specimen which he received from J. Buchanan of Wellington (Broun 1880). According to Nyholm (2000) this species belongs to an undescribed genus.
