Distribution. Endemic. Galápagos: Baltra, Española, Floreana, Isabela, Rábida, San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, Santa Fé, Santiago, Seymour.

Remarks. Adults ( Fig. 14 ) were reared by the author from larvae and puparia collected in rotting Jasminocereus ( Fig. 6 ) and Opuntia cacti. Bowman (1961) found larvae of stratiomyids (reported as Hermetia illucens ) in the digestive tracts of the woodpecker finch, Camarhynchus pallidus . This record is likely Chrysochlorina fasciata as H. illucens was not recorded from the Galápagos Islands until the late 1990s (see below). Specimens have been observed feeding on dead stems of Opuntia ( Boada 2005) .
