Comments and diagnosis. Lophopedia haeckeli is identical in structure and pubescence to L. nigriceps but can be easily distinguished by the color of integument and pubescence. Mesosoma of L. haeckeli is mostly reddish brown almost black, and marginal zone of terga black ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 37 − 39 ), and the mesosoma and metassoma of L. nigriceps are mostly orange yellow ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 56 − 58 )
Distribution: COLOMBIA; ECUADOR; PERU ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 17 − 20 ).
Variation. All the male specimens examined present the marginal band of plumose hairs on T4 occupying less than third of margin laterally except one male specimen from Macas ( Ecuador) has the marginal band almost complete. One male from Peru and one female from Ecuador have a very small yellow spot on omaular area, bellow the pronotal lobe.
