Asplenium cirrhatum Rich. ex Willd., Sp. Pl. View in CoL 5(1): 321. 1810.
= Asplenium radicans var. cirrhatum (Rich. ex Willd.) Rosenst, Hedwigia View in CoL 46: 102. 1906.
Range:— Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC) and Brazil.
Ecology:— Common; epiphytic, terrestrial, and saxicolous, in humid forests; to 2300 m. Forms clonal populations by vegetative reproduction ( Koptur & Lee 1993).
Notes:— Asplenium macrurum Mickel & Stolze , from 1000–1700 m in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, may occur in Bolivia. It differs from A. cirrhatum by broader (0.6–1 vs. 0.1–0.3 mm) rhizome scales that often have pale margins (vs. concolorous), and by longer pinnae (6–10 vs. 3–6 cm) that are narrowly acute to short-attenuate (vs. obtuse to subacute).
