Diagnosis. Length (n = 40) 1.57–2.40 (2.01) mm, width 1.30–1.99 (1.64) mm, depth 0.74–1.14 (0.97) mm. The group differs from other speciesgroups by the following combination of characters: apical margin of abdominal tergite VII widely rounded; prosternum feebly convex along midline; metathoracic discrimen absent; metanepisternum and abdominal sternites impunctate; inter-mesocoxal distance (n = 7) separated by 1.39–2.02 times width of inter-procoxal distance; inter-metacoxal distance (n = 7) separated by 1.95–2.60 times width of interprocoxal distance; abdominal sternite III without subcoxal lines; male pro- and mesotarsomeres I–III weakly or moderately bilobed; apical and lateral margins of tegmen strongly undulating; gonocoxites deeply incised at apex.
Distribution. Highlands of Mexico, Central and South America.
Comments. This species-group shows the most apparently plesiotypic characters among species- groups based on a limited review of genera within the cyllodine complex ( Table 1), including the widely rounded apical margin of abdominal tergite VII, feebly convex midline of prosternum, absence of subcoxal lines on abdominal sternite III, feebly to moderately bilobed pro- and mesotarsomeres I–III, and deeply incised apices of gonocoxites. Seven species are recognized in this study.
