Diagnosis of genus. Sinoe is defined by the autapomorphic forewing pattern with the subbasal fascia having raised scales and directed obliquely from the dorsum toward the outer costa, as well as the following combination of apomorphies: R5 and M1 stalked, M2 and M3 connate, CuA1 and CuA2 present; male genitalia with bilaterally symmetrical vinculum and valva, valva divided into costal and saccular parts, vinculum a narrow sclerite, gnathos hook shaped with basal and median articulations; female genitalia with a signum ( Lee and Brown 2008).
