Holotype ( ANSP); type locality: Trinidad .

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. gigantea L., 1758 ( Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1909; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1939, 1942 a; Shelley & Kiser 2000). Remarks : This name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
