Remarks. Tautoclines pulchella was described based on a single specimen from Brazil. Bates (1880) described Adetus strigulatus based on at least two specimens from Guatemala. Chemsak & Linsley (1970) designated a specimen from Escuintla (El Zapote) as lectotype of A. strigulatus . Aurivillius (1900) described Adetus nigricornis based on a single specimen from Venezuela. Belon (1902) described Adetus incomptus based on a single specimen from Bolivia. Melzer (1934b) described Adetus socius based on specimens from Brazil (Pernambuco, Minas Gerais). Breuning (1940b) described Adetus brevicornis based on a single specimen from Brazil. Finally, Breuning (1942) described Adetus laterialbus based on a single specimen from Argentina (Santiago del Estero). Breuning (1949) synonymized A. strigulatus , A. nigricornis , and A. brevicornis with A. pulchellus . Breuning (1971) synonymized A. socius with A. pulchellus . Adetus incomptus appears in Monné & Giesbert (1994) and Monné (1994) as a junior synonym of A. pulchellus ; we did not find any work formally synonymizing this species before this checklist and catalog. Martins & Galileo (2003) synonymized A. laterialbus with A. pulchellus .
Currently, it is known from Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, French Guiana, Brazil (Pernambuco, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Paraná), Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina (Santiago del Estero) ( Monné 2024b; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023). Viana (1972) listed the Argentinean province of Misiones, which is not mentioned in Monné (2024b). We do not know who formally recorded this species from the Brazilian states of Espírito Santo, São Paulo and Paraná, listed in Monné (2024b).
