Mimosa arborea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 519. 1753.

“Habitat in Jamaicae & Caribaearum humidis.” RCN: 7671.

Lectotype (Barneby & Grimes in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 74(2): 43. 1997): [icon] “Acacia arborea maxima non spinosa, pinnis majoribus, flore albo, siliqua contorta coccinea ventriosa elegantissima” in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 54, t. 182, f. 1, 2. 1725. – Typotype: Herb. Sloane 6:41 (BM-SL).

Current name: Cojoba arborea (L.) Britton & Rose (Fabaceae: Mimosoideae).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 4: 148. 1920) indicated unspecified material in BM as type, but it is unclear whether Plukenet or Sloane material may have been intended, though neither would be original material for the name.
