Type species: Coecilia rostrata Cuvier, 1829 by subsequent designation of Parker (1958).
Diagnosis: The only indotyphlids with eyes not covered by bone, tentacular grooves covered by bone, and mesethmoid not massively exposed between frontals.
Distribution: Seychelles.
