Genus Wuel nom. nov.

Elagatis Wu 2006: 43 (Mandibulata: Insecta: Hemiptera : Asterolecaniidae ), preoccupied by Elagatis Bennett 1840: 283 (Chordata: Actinopterygii: Carangiformes: Carangidae ).

Type species: Elagatis tongzaense Wu 2006: 43 .

Remarks on nomenclatural change. Wu (2006) established the genus Elagatis with the type species Elagatis tongzaense Wu 2006 . The genus is a valid name in Hemiptera : Coccomorpha : Asterolecaniidae ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; it includes only the type species, known only from China.

Unfortunately, the name Elagatis Wu 2006 is preoccupied by Elagatis Bennett 1840 , a fish genus (Chordata: Actinopterygii: Carangiformes: Carangidae ) based on the type species Elagatis bipinnulatus Bennett 1840 . Thus, Elagatis Wu 2006 is a junior homonym of Elagatis Bennett 1840 . According to Article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, a new replacement name is proposed for Elagatis Wu 2006 : Wuelagatis Jian & Xing nom. nov.

Etymology. The replacement genus name is derived from S.J. Wu, the author of the junior homonym, combined with the pre-existing name Elagatis ; a noun, gender masculine.
