Type species. Acanthonotus heptacanthus Nalepa, 1889: 116 .
Diagnosis. Body fusiform; legs with usual setae, empodium entire; scapular setae ( sc) ahead of rear shield margin; coxae I and coxae II each with 3 setae.
This genus consists of 46 species ( Amrine et al. 2003). Seven of these have been recorded from Southeast Asia.
