Trichactia nubilinervis ( Becker, 1908)

Trichaetia nubilinervis Becker, 1908: 118 . Type locality: Puerto de la Cruz (Port Orotava), Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Diagnosis. Head with 5–6 frontal setae and with whitish-grey microtrichosity; 1 lateroreclinate upper orbital seta and 2 small proclinate orbital setae; lower facial margin strongly protruding ( Fig. 7 ); scutum with 3+4 dorsocentral setae; katepisternum with 2 setae; calypters whitish; wing vein R 4+5 with 7–9 basal setulae dorsally, nearly reaching crossvein r–m; bend of vein M right-angled; apical part of vein M curved; abdomen black dorsally and laterally in both sexes.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♀: “ P. Orotava / 51293. V. [handwritten] // Trichaeta / nubilinervis B. [handwritten] / det. Becker [printed]” ( ZMHB).

Remarks. Becker (1908) wrote in the original description: “Ein Exemplar aus P. Orotava, Mai” [one specimen from P. Orotava, May]. The collection number 51293 leads to the handwritten note in Becker (1908): “One female, Port Orotava, 10–31. Mai 1904 ”. The harbour of Orotava (“Puerto de La Orotava” in Spanish) has changed its name to the present-day Puerto de la Cruz. Only a few additional specimens from the Canary Islands (Tenerife and El Hierro) are cited by Mesnil (1973) and Báez et al. (1986).

Distribution. Canary Islands ( Spain) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993; Tschorsnig et al. 2004).
